Etsy Made in Canada (Hamilton/ Burlington)

  • by

Craftadian (formerly the Made by Hand Show) partnered with Etsy to host a show on Saturday in Burlington at the Holiday Inn. I’ve been a fan of Etsy forever (since 2006!) and try to support local so this was a match made in heaven for me. My friend, Brandie, and I arrived shortly before 10am to find at least 100 people in a line meandering around the hotel. The wait was thankfully short as we had pre-registered for the free event so got in with a quick scan of our e-tickets.

Over 45 Etsy Sellers, with their handcrafts, set up booths and the room was brimming with customers. We made our way to back of the room and started browsing from there.

Coast to Coaster

One of the first tables we stopped at was Coast to Coaster and if you couldn’t guess by their name make fresh, modern coasters as well as other home goods, like scrabble magnets.

Rebel + Heart

Another stand out table was  Rebel + Heart, which made super cute baby leggings and tees. The leggings were going for $30/pair.

The most memorable booth was by Ocean Avenue as they had some clothes that were to my taste. They had a number of stylish and comfy skirts and accessories. I ended up buying this jacquard knit skirt for $55:

Ocean Avenue has a bricks & mortar storefront just west of Port Credit in Mississauga at 885 Lakeshore Rd E., #1, for those who want to stop by and check out their clothes in person.

We perused a number of the tables as most had items that we were interested in. Brandie, who does newborn photography, was in props heaven with all the baby headbands, hats, necklaces, etc.

Overall, I thought it was a good event and glad we went. It was very crowded and I expected as much as it was the first year this event took place and there aren’t many free, local craft shows of this quality. If this event were to take place again, Craftadian and Etsy should consider a larger venue and advise no strollers as it was wall to wall people and wouldn’t be fun for parents and their little ones.
