Something that nobody knows about me is that I have a secret (well, not so secret now) obsession with Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, more commonly known as Kate Middleton. To be specific, I am obsessed with her style. I find her style classic and while, at times, features expensive, high-end labels, some of her clothing and accessories are accessible. In particular, her shoes. I absolutely would die for her shoe closet. Of the more accessible labels (when on sale, that is) I covet are Aquatalia and L.K. Bennett. The later brand is a little more difficult to find in Canada and I enjoyed trying on their shoes in London, England when I was there two years ago.
A pair that I got my hands on are the Pied a Terre Imperia espadrille wedges. I bought navy as I needed a navy shoe but if you want to follow Kate’s fashion to a T, she has them in off-white/cream and black. They are great as a spring and summer shoe but work for the transitional weather in the autumn and perfect for the office. For 3″ almond toe wedges, they are pretty comfy. This is how I wore them today.
I bought them last year on sale from Nordstrom’s when they were released as “Imperia D”. This year, they are styled as “Karley”. They are more readily available now. In Canada, on sale for C$88 (great price!) from Capezio Shoes, on Amazon.com from US$79-99, and from Dune London UK directly for £47.00.
How do I find out about Kate’s labels? While you can do a google search or find mentions on UK news/style pieces, my go-to source is What Kate Wore.
If you want to know what Prince George and Princess Charlotte are wearing, there is What Kate’s Kids Wore. While I do check that out occasionally, I find the kids are usually dressed too proper for me. I like my son, B, to wear preppy, affordable classics but mix it up with trendier pieces as well. Plus, he’s just rolling on the floor anyway so no need to invest in the heirloom quality pieces that Kate’s kids are wearing. Having said that, little George wears Crocs and B has the same pair (and B had them first).
If you ever want to talk about Kate’s clothes and especially her shoes, comment or drop me a note. I can talk hours on this topic.
